It feels like everything has been paused this year, but fashion was still moving. There have been some real iconic moments in fashion this year even though it feels like everyone has been living in loungewear. Here is a reminder of some of the best bits.
January
This has to be one of my favourite red carpet looks, brought to you by princess Ari. This tulle creation was designed by Giambattista Valli, Italian fashion designer. The Grammys were shook!

February
One of my favourite designers of 2020 was dressing all the Irish celebs and how incredible did they look? This was when I really noticed Aoife Ireland and fell in love with her designs.

March
The real star of this month was banana bread and fashion sort of came to a halt as we all began to go into lockdown. The fashion moment of this month was most definitely loungewear. So many brands emerged with loungewear collections this year, from small Irish designers like KTB Studio to some of the biggest brands such as Skims with their velour tracksuit collection. March was definitely. the month we all turned to loungewear.

April
Our favourite Sally Rooney novel came to life on screen in April and ‘Normal People’ definitely gave us some iconic fashion moments. Daisy Edgard Jones was styled in vintage thrifted fashion and made “bangs” the must-have hairstyle. And as for Paul Mescal, well, Connell’s chain got it’s own instagram page and he made fashion history by making GAA shorts sexy and high fashion, so much so that ‘Gucci’ replicated the design.

May
In my mind, the release of ‘Rain on Me’ was a huge moment in fashion & beauty. The floating eyeliner look was created from this video and has been a huge trend throughout 2020. It was the shining light in pop culture we all needed at that moment.

June
June was a harrowing month as the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement came to light. This movement also brought the talent and ambition of black designers to the forefront. One particular Black Irish designer stood out to me, and Pharrell Williams! M.I.O Prints made big impact and caught the attention of the musician and producer and owner, Florence Olufemi-Ojo, featured in his video for ‘Entrepreneur’.

July
I became a huge fan of ‘Ru Pauls Drag Race’ over lockdown and one of my favourite winners was Shea Coulee. Their style throughout ‘All Stars 5’ was stunning and inspirational and my favourite look was their finale dress, inspired by Shea’s mother.

August
Lady Gaga pulled out all the stops at the VMA’s this year with not one but nine different looks throughout the night. All the looks incorporated a face covering and she made each an accessory rather than a chore. From Valentino to Vex Clothing she rocked the stage.

September
Quite possibly my favourite look from the whole year is Lily Allen’s wedding outfit. She wed in Las Vegas wearing Dior and looked incredible. Such a joyful fashion moment.

October
In 2021 we will all be heading to Paris to reinvent ourselves and style a beret. Emily in Paris provided us all with the style inspiration and escapism we needed. I know that Emily was the main stylista, but Camille needs some recognition too as her Parisian style was impeccable.

November
Vogue blessed us with an incredible shoot with Harry Styles in November. He brought femininity to his looks and made a huge fashion statement in a gown created by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele. This will go down in fashion history.

December
December was filled with stunning looks from Irish talent Lyra, finishing off with and incredible red tulle gown on New Year’s eve. The custom made gloves from Irish designer Izzy O’Reilly, topped the look off. I’m excited to see what looks she serves in 2021.

Honourable mention to some of the greatest style icons in 2020 and all time, Zendaya, Lizzo and Dua Lipa. Along with my favourite designer Chanel who smashed it in everything they created, as always.
