Black Friday comes around once a year and I’ve learned a few hacks through the years. It can be a bit overwhelming especially so close to Christmas, trying to snap up the best bargains. It’s a great opportunity to cross some Christmas presents off the list and maybe even treat yourself. Don’t lose your head, stay calm and collected and follow some of this advice.

Make a List
First things first, make a list. Have you had your eye on a new pair of runners? A new handbag for mum? A new lamp for your bedroom? Jot it all down and seek it out during Black Friday week. If you don’t have a plan, you will get distracted by all the other stuff on offer and spend more money than needed and come away without the actual things you wanted. You can even make a list of retailers you want to look for your items on. This will save you a lot of time and unnecessary scrolling or searching through stores.
Online is better
On that note, I’d recommend doing all your Black Friday shopping online if possible. It will make it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for, just search it and voila! It’s also less stress and safer than hitting the shops. This week is notoriously crazy in the shops, and if you can avoid if at all possible than do. Just be prepared to wait for your products arrival and expect some delays. Although if you order this week, you should have your goods well in time for Christmas.
Shop Irish
Irish businesses need a lot of support this Christmas (and all year round). Amazon will survive so direct your efforts to those that need a helping hand. Also the products will be original, personal and gorgeous quality so you’ll be winning. I’ve posted a list of some of my favourite Irish businesses who are giving great Black Friday offers on my instagram @hellochlo_style.
Invest in some worthy goods
This is a perfect time to build your capsule wardrobe or invest in some good skincare or even homeware pieces. If your favourite serum only goes on sale once a year, get it while it’s on offer. Build on what you know you’ll like, a new winter coat that you’ll wear every year, a new coffee machine that you’ll use every day. Don’t spend frivolously, invest!

Look out for Scammers
You might be getting lots of texts and emails from your favourite businesses but make sure they are legit. If in doubt, ignore! That’s the rule I go by, because I can be very naïve. Don’t give any of your personal details away if you are in any way unsure.
Be Eco and Waste Conscious
We all love shopping, myself included, but it’s important to not be wasteful, especially this time of year. Think hard about whether you really need that sequin party dress, or a new set of earphones. There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself as long as it’s not excessive.
Happy bargain-hunting!
