With more time at home it’s nice to have some sounds in the background of work or chill. Podcasts help me take my mind off everything going on and I love to listen to them while I work. Listening to the voices on podcasts or radio really help combat the loneliness of being at home and not seeing our friends and family as usual. Some of my favourites are home grown and some are from further afield, but they provide me with a bit of escapism on the daily.

Beauty and Beyond
I love a good beauty podcast and this is the newest one on the block. It’ authentically Irish and gives reviews and recommendations on the best beauty products and trends on the Island. Hosted by top model Sarah McGovern and make up artist Ken Boylan, two pros in the beauty business, with some very well known guests. Such easy listening for any beauty obsessed listeners.

Owning It
Another home grown podcast, comes from Caroline Foran, author of ‘The Confidence Kit’ and ‘Owning It’. The podcast follows the theme of her bestselling book ‘Owning It’ which simply put is “your bullshit-free guide to living with anxiety”, something many people may need at the moment. Caroline talks about her own experiences with anxiety and also talks with experts about how to deal with anxiety. I found it extremely soothing to listen to and very informative.
After Work Drinks
Two besties, chatting over a bottle of Pinot Noir about everything from, ‘Emily in Paris’ to the presidential election. This podcast is peak easy listening as you feel like you’re chatting with your girlfriends. The two magazine editors Isabelle Truman and Grace O’Neill, hailing from Australia originally (amazing accents) host the show. Each week they talk about current affairs and popular topics which is both hilarious and informative. I want to be best friends with them both!
They also have an amazing site with lots of interesting blog posts http://afterworkdrinks.net/

I’m Grand Mam
These lads always have me screaming! This is the ultimate feel good podcast. Kevin Twomey and PJ Kirby are two self proclaimed “mammies boys” living in London. They document what it’s like for young gay Irish men living away from home and navigating their way through life. Each episode discusses completely random topics, but with regular segments such as tips on consent and questions answered by their own mammies.

The High Low
From highbrow culture to lowbrow, writers Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes cover it all on this weekly podcast. These ladies are so knowledgable and I find this podcast a great way to keep up with the goings ons in the world.

The Bald and the Beautiful
This one may not be for everyone but I adore it, as it’s hosted by my two favourite drag queens, Trixie and Katya. The famous drag queens speak to other incredible drag superstars about beauty, performing and life. The two hosts already have a youtube series but many of their fans were crying out for a podcast that they could play in the background of their daily lives and the dynamic duo came through. If you’re curious about the world of drag and want to hear from some of the best in the biz, this is the podcast to listen to.
