The weather is getting colder which just means we get to wear more lovely clothes. break out your cosiest jumpers, hats and scarves and layer up. I love Autumn as it’s a time where I settle myself and get into a routine and I’m sure many people feel the same especially after the weird Summer we’ve had. But don’t get complacent with your style! The start of a new fashion season is the perfect time to reinvent yourself and there are so many gorgeous trends to hop on this season.
Red Hot
According to “The Gloss” magazine this season is all about red! A deep red is something I always associate with Autumn and Winter. This is an easy trend to get involved with, dip into your wardrobe and you’re bound to find some red pieces and even accessories. Maybe your mum has an old red scarf that you can borrow or maybe there’s a red jumper you only get out for Christmas, mix it up for the season that’s in it. I had a peek in Dublin vintage factory and found some killer finds that are completely on trend.

Layer Up
I love this season because you can layer up. Long sleeves under shirts is one of of my fave looks and the more layers the better.

Or long sleeves under short sleeves? The Dad vest trend has clearly been a winning trend this season and it’s an easy one to rock if you can get your hands on a vest! I got mine in Zara about six years ago and never really wore it but every trend comes full circle.

Puff Up
With all the outdoor dining, I needed a good coat to keep me warm and dry while I drink glasses of wine and eat pizza. The puffer trend definitely hasn’t left us so I got this gorgeous one from Penneys and it’s like wearing a sleeping bag. I usually steer clear of Penneys but I had heard good reviews about their outerwear. I was also slightly greenwashed as this coat is said to be made partly from recycled materials. And only 40 euro. I was sold!

Boots Boots Boots!
I know what you’re thinking “Boots for Autum? Revolutionary.” But there a lot of new trends emerging this season. Who knew wellies could look so damn good?

I love knee high boots and they’re on my wish list this season. I want to invest in a good pair but there are to many options! Flat or high? Brown or black? Leather or suede? I’ve been keeping an eye out on depop for a pair that are barely worn so I don’t have to buy brand new.

Tiny handbags & Tote bags
I love a tiny saddle bag to throw over my shoulder but I can’t go anywhere without my tote bag which leaves me in a slight dilemma. If you can find a tote bag that will fit inside the tiny bag, you’ve cracked it. I feel the two represent the old and the new. The little 90’s style handbag annd the new sustainable bag trend are both very current.

Totally Tartan
Every season this trend makes an appearance and it’s always been one of my favourite patterns to rock (despite reminding me of my old school uniform). I’m inspired by characters of the 90’s when I pull out a tartan number. It’s a staple for Autumn/Winter and it’s not going anywhere.

Give some new trends a whirl and get creative. You don’t need to walk into a highstreet shop and buy the trend straight off the mannequin, search high and low in charity shops, vintage shops and your mums wardrobe (if she’s cool with that, don’t steal). What comes around, goes around and you might just find the most on trend pieces are hiding in a second hand shop originating from the 80’s or 90’s! You can be sustainable and trendy, best of both worlds!
